Rice County Fair Talent Show

Good News! We are bringing back the Talent Show.

The talent show is Saturday, July 20, at 1PM in the Beer Garden.

There are three categories:
Preteen Division (Age 12 and under)
     1st place $75, 2nd place $50, 3rd place $25
Teen Division (Age 13-18)
     1st place $75, 2nd place $50, 3rd place $25
Open Division Any age (see rules on Entry Form)
     1st place $75, 2nd place $25, 3rd place $25

Each contestant or group has 4 minutes on stage to present their talent.

AMATEUR TALENT CONTEST ENTRY RULES

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!
Entry: Acts must submit an entry form along with the entry fee.

Eligibility: The contest is open to all amateur entertainers. Professionals are NOT permitted to compete. This includes Union musicians and anyone whose principal source of income is from their talent. Compensation for performing at weddings, etc. does not constitute principal source of income.

GENERAL RULES

Judging: Judges' decisions are final and scores are not released to acts or the public.

Acts will be judged on:
- quality of performance (including selection)
- stage presence
- entertainment value

Time Limit: Time limit is four minutes (this includes any spoken intros by the act). Points will be deducted for acts going over the allotted time. Acts are allowed to perform a medley of songs, but must remain within the four-minute time limit.

Sound System: All acts are required to use the sound system and sound technician provided by the Rice County Fair.

For vocal acts, acts will be disqualified if accompaniment recording has vocals of any kind.


County fairs throughout Minnesota are invited to send winners of their amateur talent contests to the State Fair competition. Semifinals are held the first nine evenings of the State Fair on the Family Fair Stage at Baldwin Park with the nightly first-place winners progressing to the MSF County Fair Talent Contest Finals, which take place on Saturday, Aug. 31. The first- and second-place finals winners in each division continue on in the competition by representing their counties in the MSF Amateur Talent Contest Finals on Sunday, Sept. 1 in the Grandstand.
